Price: £5.95
Age Range: suitable for use from birth
Manufacturer’s Description: Our yellow organically grown sea sponges are the perfect partner for your baby’s delicate skin.
Each natural sea sponge is sustainably harvested and hand-picked from the Mediterranean Sea, meaning that no damage is done to the roots allowing it to grow back quickly. This compares to other less sustainable methods such as machine picking which causes damage to the reef and sponges. By hand-picking the sponge, only the best larger sponges are selected, leaving the smaller sponges to grow for next year’s harvest.
Available in the natural brown colour when harvested or eco-bleached yellow, using an oxygen bleaching process which naturally fades the sponge to a light yellow colour.

Review: With the guilt of passing my delicate skin onto my two girls weighing on my mind, I’ve always got an eye out for products that will make things easier for everyone, and help to minimise the problems they experience. Using a soft, non-abrasive sponge at bathtime is one of these things.

Up until now, we have been using specific baby (artificial) sponges from the supermarkets, but they don’t match up to the softness & gentleness of this natural sea sponge – especially the supermarket own brand ones we bought last. These sea sponges might be a few pounds more expensive, but I think it is worth the not at all extortionate price tag of £5.95.
The sponge we received was a yellow one; they have been dyed ecologically, and harvested in a sustainable, gentle way – doing the least amount of damage to the environment possible – and to your conscience!
When I asked James about the sponge his review was “it’s a funky shape because it’s natural. Natural is good.”

We have used this bath sponge to wash both the girls and it is great at removing the grime whilst still being super soft on their skin. It absorbs water quickly and the only downside to using a natural sea sponge is that it sinks in the bath once it has filled up with water, rather than floating about like an artificial sponge!
I’m giving this sea sponge a well deserved 5 stars – and I’ll also be giving five of these little lovelies out next month in my Big Birthday Bonanza Giveaway, so keep an eye out for that!
