Review: I love baby wearing, and have used a few wrap slings before, so when I saw the Joy & Joe baby wrap I was delighted to see a new reasonably cost sling enter the market.
A “simple piece of cloth” style wrap, the Joy & Joe stretchy wrap is made from 100% cotton and is suitable from birth to 16kg. Lydia is currently just over 7kg, and so there is plenty of use in it left – Georgie still fits within the weight limit!
I got a multicoloured stripey wrap (not currently available on their site) and I have had so many compliments whilst wearing it! I love the bright colours and sense of fun of my new wrap. I even managed to convince James to wear it – and he refuses to wear my purple wrap sling.
The Joy & Joe stretchy baby wrap is a very comfortable sling; with dimensions of 5 metres by 20 cm I found it both long & wide enough to wrap easily and comfortably. Lydia was extremely cosy and happy in the sling, and falls asleep in it frequently. I’ve walked a good few miles at once with Lydie in the sling and I found it absolutely fine.
Due to the stretchy nature of the cotton I adjusted it once or twice by hopping and pulling to tighten, and reknotting; but this is something I’ve found necessary with all wrap slings whose fabric has the ability to sag slightly.
Baby wearing is fantastic for going out and about, and equally for getting things done at home when you have a clingy baby on your hands! At the weekend I was preparing veg for our roast dinner whilst Lydia sat happily in the wrap giggling away to herself. Lydia definitely prefers to be sat higher up in the wrap rather than in a pushchair, while we’re out, as she can see more.
The wrap itself came well packaged in a protective bag, with a very friendly and helpful instruction booklet, and information about the very important T.I.C.K.S. guidelines, which was great to see included. The wrap has a label in the centre to help you find the middle when doing wraps.
My favourite thing about the Joy & Joe wrap is the carry pouch. This is built in at one end of the sling, so you can’t lose it! I usually keep my wrap slings scrunched up in cloth bags, which means they are hard to find and always tangled! With the Joy & Joe sling you simply fold up the sling and tuck it away – easy peasy!
