Review: We have been testing the Gumigem Bubba Bag for the last few weeks, and it has definitely been a hit with our two girls.
As soon as Jenny from Gumigem told me that she was expanding the range, and that there was a new teething toy in the works, I was intrigued… When the bags were announced, I had one of those “what an amazing, yet brilliantly simple, idea” thoughts – the ones where you wish you’d thought of that yourself!
The bag contains four different shaped teething toys made from lovely gummable silicon; a set of keys, a smartphone, a credit card & a little purse. The keys are suitable from 10 months, and the rest are fine from birth. They feel great to hold and are a lovely texture and consistency to chew.

At 6 months old, the smartphone is definitely Lydia’s favourite to chew on, although she really enjoys chomping away on all of the toys.
I love the role play element of this toy; Georgie has been having a great time making phone calls on the smartphone, and waving her new keys around. I think that my mum would be amazed if she knew just how many phone calls she has been having with her granddaughter lately!
Georgie even took the phone & keys to my brother’s wedding with her; carrying them in her little teddy handbag along with a mini board book & a toy train. She was proudly showing them off to the guests who were sitting behind us at one point.

The bag, unfortunately, lets the product down a little bit. While the neoprene fabric is great as it holds the shape fairly well and is easy to wipe clean or chuck in the washing machine, the quality is just not as good as I would have expected from Gumigem. The edges seem to be not quite right, and while the design is good the finish seems lacking.
Georgie loves to play with it though, carrying it around with her play food shopping in (or a random selection of toys, for that matter!) – so if she’s happy, I’m happy.
While I would give the toys on their own a 5 star rating, as the kids both love them so much, I’m afraid the slightly sub-standard bag knocks one off, and this product gets 4 stars.
I am currently running a competition to win one of these Bubba Bags, so make sure you check that out! It ends on 26/10/2013.
