Review: We have been testing out this thermometer in both the girls room and their baths. It is really easy to use – you just pop it into the bath or stand it up on it’s plastic stand, and it displays the temperature of the water/room. The display is activated by tapping it, or dropping it into water.

The bath thermometer is simply packed and easy to get into. In the shape of the Tommee Tippee star, I think it is an attractive thermometer and looks good in the girls’ bedroom, whilst also having the advantage of being their favourite shape which is a bonus for bath time play.

The battery compartment can be opened with a coin, or similar, and it takes 1 cell battery to operate (CR2032). Because of the auto-off feature, I don’t expect to be needing to change the battery any time soon. It comes with the battery included to begin with.

A small plastic stand is provided for you to pop the star on in your child’s bedroom, and the star sits neatly onto the stand. It has a few small holes predrilled which is useful if you want to fix it down somewhere to stop your children messing with it and losing it (ahem. Maybe we should have done that).

For bath time use, the star floats face up in the water, with the display on to show the temperature of the water. If you hit 39°C, a red led blinks at you to let you know your bath water is too hot. I liked that the star didn’t flip over too easily and that you can see that the water temperature is ok without lifting it out to look at.
The plastic is certified BPA free, and it has also received certification as a bath toy, so you needn’t have any worries about your baby playing with this thermometer whilst they splash about in the bath.

I’ve found that the temperature displayed is pretty accurate – we have a few other temperature sensors in the house and this Tommee Tippee one agreed with the others within a fraction of a degree. It’s quick too; you don’t have to wait ages for it to work out the temperature.
Overall I have been pleased with this thermometer; it seems accurate, sturdy, and the batteries are lasting well. My only criticism is that is is a bit on the expensive side – there are cheaper options out there that do the same thing, although perhaps not as well. 4 stars.
